Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) and Alumni and Development Office (ADO) jointly organized UM Alumni Sharing Series. UM Alumnus Mr. Benson Lam was invited to share his life wisdom and career experience to UM students. More than 100 UM students attended the sharing session. Mr. Lam successfully attracted students’ attention and interests, students continuously raised hands to ask questions during the Q&A session, and the talk overran more than 40 minutes to cater to students’ need.

Alumnus Mr. Lam Kuok Wa (Benson) obtained his Bachelor’s degree majoring in Civil Engineering from Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau in 1998. He has been dedicated to Macao construction industry over 20 years since graduation. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of MECOM Power and Construction Limited (1183: HKG) and the Deputy Director of EHY Construction and Engineering Company Limited.

Mr. Lam first shared his story of career development from fresh graduate to top management level and his tough undergraduate study experience due to poor English. He emphasized to students the importance of setting life goals and getting to know themselves. He encouraged students to seize every opportunity to learn and developed their soft skills, such as leadership, communication skills which may be crucial for their success. He also shared how to choose careers and the pros and cons of choosing private and public sectors. He doesn’t encourage students to start a business without a clear goal, good preparation, and business network. When talking about the difficulties in life, he believed that difficulties could be solved by continuous efforts and making appropriate changes. Success favors those prepared minds.

Students seized the chances to exchange ideas with Mr. Lam and the sharing ended with fruitful discussion.
