Dear students,

According to the statistics of Macau Traffic Bureau, there were 10,238 traffic accidents between January and September in 2019. Accidents involving motorcycles amounted to 3,687 cases, resulting in 2,587 casualties. Therefore, we would like to remind students who drive motorcycles to follow the Road Traffic Law and drive carefully. Motorcyclists should pay special attention in order to ensure safety.

Please note the following safety tips for motorcyclists:

1. Drivers who obtain their driving license within the past year are prohibited to carry passengers.
2. Drivers and passengers should wear certified helmets.
3. Before driving, drivers should check the condition of the motorcycles, such as punctured tire, oil leakage, etc.
4. Drive on the left side of the road. Do not change lane and overtake other vehicles ruthlessly.
5. Pay attention to the road condition and rear-view mirror; always signal a turn or lane change with your directional lights.
6. Follow speed limit and maintain a safe distance. Slow down when raining or visibility is low.
7. Slow down before crosswalks and stop for pedestrians.
8. Serious motorcycle accidents are prone to occur on the Amizade Bridge. Using the motorcycle lane on Sai Van Bridge to travel between Macau and Taipa is highly recommended.

Best regards,
