Programme Assistant Position in English Language Teaching (ELT)

CALL FOR PROGRAMME ASSISTANT APPLICATION

The English Language Centre, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Macau (UM) seeks local university graduate students to assist in its Summer English Programme on campus as Programme Assistants (PAs) in the summer of 2020. Local Programme Assistant positions are open to UM graduate students (in MA or PhD programmes) who have a high level of written and spoken English, and who are interested in teaching. In the Summer English Programme, under the guidance of experienced instructors, local PAs will partner with each other in order to help UM's incoming undergraduate students to improve their English. PAs will provide communication practice to help reinforce students’ classroom learning and create opportunities for students to use English in tutorial sessions.

PAs will be involved with the programme in the mornings and afternoons. The programme period of the Summer programme runs from July 1-21st, 2020 (3 weeks) and all PAs are expected to be available for the full duration of the programme. PAs must attend training sessions and practice from June 28-30th before the programme begins. Training is a mandatory requirement.

The University of Macau offers an attractive stipend to local PAs. Conditions vary, however, depending on whether local PAs receive other university funding during the summer period, such as research assistants. Additionally, shared on-campus dormitory housing in the Residential College (RC) is available upon request. You may choose to arrange your own housing. If you choose to live in the (RC), you will be assigned as a contact person for the local students in the (RC) and you would stay overnight on designated on-call nights. To apply, please fill out the application form at https://umac.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eRG7luaMEJRlfUh and submit the required documents as requested by 11th March, 2020. Should you have any questions, please address it to fah.elc@um.edu.mo for enquiry.
