Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College Service Leaders sown seeds of love in Congjiang, Guizhou

Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College organized a service learning programme in Congjiang, Guizhou from 20 to 27 May 2019. 16 college students were led by Associate Master, Dr. Vivian Jiang and Resident Fellow, Dr. Andrew Lao. This programme aims at providing community service opportunities for HFPJC students to serve the underprivileged groups in Guizhou so as to enhance the learning competencies in leadership and service as well as citizenship with global perspectives.

The service learning team brought different courses to student of Guping High School in Congjiang, included "Little Inventors" workshop, Marshmallow Challenge, Exploring Macau Culture, Interesting English, Health and Environmental Protection, Etiquette, Music, Physical Education and Learning Experience Sharing, etc.

Mr. Tam Hou Kun, a third year student who majors in history, had participated in the service learning for the fourth time. He said that every teachers has their own family, but they need to contribution extra personal time in order to provide a happy and healthy learning environment to the Guping children. He appreciated their selfless contribution and hoped to help more children from the remote areas in the future.

Miss Ren Ning, a freshman majoring in English studies, was most impressed by the children. She felt anxious at the beginning of the class as she didn’t have any experiences of teaching. However, she was touching by the children’s cooperation, smile and passion.

Miss Liang Yuyan who is also a freshman in history, was born in Congjaing. She was pound to be a service leader so that she can contribute to her hometown, she wishes to shown the beautiful world to the children of her hometown.

HFPJC published a book named "Fruits of Love – Oranges' Sunshine Service Learning Tour" in March 2019. The book records every special moments of HFPJC service learning programme since 2014, and got the affirmation from the public. It makes HFPJC service leader inheritance the team spirit.
