Dear colleagues:
As you know, two Town Hall Meetings for UM staff were held on 15 June. At the meetings, Rector Yonghua Song expressed his sincere thanks to all faculty members, students, and staff for their understanding, cooperation, support, and dedication during the pandemic, which has allowed the university to respond quickly and adopt effective measures to minimise the negative effects of the pandemic on teaching and research.
Rector Song updated UM members on the latest developments of the university in academic, research, and administration. He talked about the challenges and opportunities faced by the university; the overall development strategy; plans for optimising the academic structure, improving degree programmes, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate education to meet the needs of society; projected increase in the number of students; nurturing talent in line with the SAR government's policies; promoting dual degree programmes; promoting close collaborations with mainland universities; academic staff development; research strategies; enhancing budget management and execution to support the university’s teaching and research; continuous improvement of the campus; and planned events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the university. Participants shared their thoughts and asked questions during the Q&A session.
