Dear Colleagues

The activity period of the Sixth University of Macau Energy Saving Competition is between 1st February and 30th June 2019. The saving performance and ranking of the participating units will be evaluated by electricity consumption (kilowatt-hour or kWh). There are 15 prizes in the competition. Ten of them will be awarded to the top 10 participating units and the the other 5 prizes are “Faculty Big Saver”, “Best Implementer of Energy Saving Measures”, “Most Energy Efficient Residential College”, “Most Improved Participant (by exact amount)”, and “Most Improved Participant (by percentage)”. Besides “Best Implementer of Energy Saving Measures”, the respective prize amounts are determined by the electricity cost saving of the winning participating units during the competition period or the ceiling amount, whichever is lower. Relevant information can be found in the rules of the competition.

Most participating units’ electricity consumption decreased in February 2019. The top 10 participating units are “Cheng Yu Tung College” (W23), “Lui Che Woo College” (W22), “Chao Kuang Piu College” (W21), “Stanley Ho East Asia College” (W13), “Choi Kai Yau College” (W12), “Shiu Pong College” (S9), “Humanities and Social Sciences Building” (E21), “Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College” (W14), “Moon Chun Memorial College” (W11), and “Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College” (W33). Their electricity consumption reduction ranges from 17.01% to 28.30%.

The Faculty Big Saver in February was Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences. Their electricity consumption saving was 28,811 kWh.

The measures that they adopted may include switching off of unused lightings or computers before getting off work, setting air conditioning temperature to 25 degree, keeping doors and windows closed when air conditioners were running, adopting natural ventilation or electric fans instead of air conditioners, etc.

The most energy efficient residential college in February was “Cheng Yu Tung College” (W23). The electricity consumption saving was 28.30%.
