The network equipment of E11 and E12 was deployed six years ago since the construction of the Hengqin Campus in 2013. At that time, the design of the network system was only applicable to administrative and clerical works, and was not suitable for research work which required fast network. Furthermore, the network equipment will reach its end-of-support state soon.
In view of this, ICTO planned to upgrade all network equipment installed in E11 & E12 within this year. We aim at optimizing the network topology and increasing the network speed of user port from 100Mbps to 1Gbps.
The E11 and E12 Network Refreshment Project will be carried out from May to August this year in 2 phases.
Phase 1 - Core Switch Replacement in E11 and E12
Network services including wired, wireless and ip phone services of the whole E11 & E12 buildings will be suspended from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on 25 May, 2019 (Saturday).
Phase 2 - Access Layer Switches Replacement
Phase 2 will be carried out during 15 June to 15 August, 2019, the network services will be suspended floor by floor. We will inform the affected users in advance.
