Rationale:
The major theme for the roundtable centers around the topic of the newly published edited volume, “ The European Union in the Asia Pacific: Rethinking Europe’s strategies and policies”, with the Manchester University Press, February 2019. It aims to address the issue of European Union’s relations with the Asia Pacific, with a specific focus on the new trends and future prospects of power shifts in both Europe and Asia and some most urgent global challenges.

It starts with a book launch on announcing the publication of the new book, with introduction of the background, rationale, structure, etc. It is then followed by a keynote speech by Ambassador & Professor Michael REITERER, European External Action Service of the EU, on strategic reflections of the EU policy towards the Asia Pacific. This leads to a further detailed roundtable discussion on the prospects of EU-Asia Pacific relations, by a group of invited participants, with interactions with the audience.
