Briefing session regarding Specialized Subsidy Scheme for Macao Higher Education Institutions in the Area of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences on 11 July 2019

The application for Specialized Subsidy Scheme for Macao Higher Education Institutions in the Area of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences is now open to the staff members of the Macao Higher Education Institutions. As a result, a briefing session was organized by the Higher Education Bureau to allow the researchers and the administrators from the higher education institutions to have a further understanding regarding the scope and the application process of the Subsidy Scheme. The key points from the briefing session included:
  • The application flow: The principal investigators (PIs) have to submit the application at least 50 days prior to project commencement;
  • After the PI successfully apply for the grant, the final report has to be submitted to the Higher Education Bureau by the end of the year. The PI has to apply for an extension if he/she would like to continue the project in the next fiscal year;
  • The introduction of expenses items: Researchers, Consultation, Presenting findings, Publishing findings;
  • The required documents regarding the completion report: Subsidized expense items, Non-subsidized expense items;
  • The indicators of the project evaluation: Number of published papers on academic journals/Amount of publications issued.

The Specialized Subsidy Scheme is the first ever public funding for the research in Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines. It is also the result of the continued effort of the Vice-Rector (Research), Professor Wei GE and the Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office in communicating with the Higher Education Bureau. The RSKTO arranged transportation for the staff members to attend the briefing session and will continue to work with the Higher Education Institutions in order to improve the research service for the UM members.
