CKLC Reading Club visited Sun Yat-sen University

A learning group of twelve CKLC students, organized by CKLC Reading Club, headed by Resident Fellow Dr. Sisi SUN, visited the Sun Yat-sen University on 5 April 2019. Sun Yat-sen University enjoys a high reputation with more than 100 years’ history. The University has been the preeminent research, academic and cultural center and the premier location for talent development in Southern China. During the visit, the students took enough time to appreciate the campus scenery, and combined with history, they learned more about the style and features of the building complex.

In the second day, students visited the Guangdong Museum which is housed in the new cultural center of Guangzhou. The museum building was relocated in 2003, with the design inspired by traditional Cantonese ivory puzzle ball. The major exhibitions revolve the general art, nature, and history. Upon the visit, students learned more about the past, present, and future of the historical progress of Guangdong. The learning group also visited the Yanyouji Bookstore which is a new independent chain bookstore developing in recent years.

This two-day learning trip to Guangzhou enabled the students to touch the world with broader knowledge of cultural topics apart from their own majors. It also allows them to express various viewpoints in an open-up discussion. The trip definitely helps to cultivate students to become well-rounded individuals
