Bulletin
Dear UM students,
Naked chat scams have resurfaced in recent months. Fraudsters set up bogus social media accounts and invited victims especially teenagers to join them for a chat which quickly became sexual. Gullible victims were taped while they talked to their new friends naked and were extorted for money later.
Criminals take advantage of the insidious nature of the Internet to hide their true identities. Students must be highly alert when it comes to giving out personal information on the Internet or accepting friend's requests from strangers in order to protect themselves from falling prey to scam.

Preventive measures to remember:

1. Be cautious when a stranger sends you a friend request on social media platform;
2. Do not disclose your personal information to someone you hardly know;
3. Say NO to any requests to nude video chat;
4. Do not transfer or send remittance to people you barely know;
5. Contact the police at once if you have been scammed or extorted.

If there is any crime intelligence you would like to share with the police, please contact us via the Safe School Network or call us on 88005500, send a fax to 2835 6895 or an email to nam@pj.govv.mo. Your information will be kept with confidentiality.
