UM presents Long Service Award and Outstanding Administrative Staff Award

The University of Macau (UM) recently presented the Long Service Award to 113 staff who have been serving at the university for 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years as well as the Outstanding Administrative Staff Award to 19 administrative staff with outstanding performance. To minimise mass gatherings during the epidemic, UM organised picture-taking sessions at different times instead of the award presentation ceremony originally planned.

Lao Kit Fai, a recipient of the Long Service Award (35 years), feels very honoured to be able to witness the development of the university and grow with it. Prof Yuen Chun Yip in the Faculty of Business Administration, a recipient of the Long Service Award (30 years), says that the greatest reward and satisfaction from his work is being able to witness many students becoming useful members of society. He thanks the university for its nurturing over the years, as well as his faculty dean and colleagues for their trust and encouragement, saying he will work harder in the future.

Gloria Kuok, secretary to the director of the Communications Office, is a recipient of the Outstanding Administrative Staff Award as well as the Most Creative Slogan Award. She believes that attention to detail is the key to achieving outstanding performance at work. Siu Weng Chi in the Chao Kuang Piu College is another recipient of the Outstanding Administrative Staff Award. She considers the award to be recognition of her work and contribution to the college. She says she is most happy to be able to help students put their entrepreneurial ideas into practice.
