UM’s English Debating Team wins 9th straight championship of local inter-varsity debate competition
The University of Macau (UM) English Debating Team recently won eight prizes at a local inter-varsity debate competition, including the championship, a second prize, and the Best Debater Award in the grad final, as well as five Best Debater Awards in the preliminaries. It is the ninth consecutive year that the UM team has won the championship of this competition.
The competition is divided into three stages: preliminaries, semi-final, and grand final. Each stage includes four rounds, with four teams competing in each round. The event attracted 16 debating teams from five higher education institutions in Macao. Eight teams advanced to the semi-final, while two teams from UM entered the grand final.
