Dear Colleagues and Students,
In the forthcoming University Lecture Series, we are honored to have Professor Paul C.W. Chu (朱經武教授) to speak on the topic “Superconductivity and I”. Prof. Chu is currently Professor of Physics, T.L.L. Temple Chair of Science, and Founding Director and Chief Scientist of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TCSUH); Honorary Chancellor of the Taiwan Comprehensive University System; and President Emeritus and University Professor Emeritus of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
Prof. Chu is also Doctor of Science honoris causaof UM. Being a respected physicist and scientist, Prof. Chu has made a number of remarkable contributions to scientific research. For instance, together with Dr. M.K. Wu, Prof. Chu’s best known discovery of YBCO (Y1Ba2Cu3O7) in high temperature superconductor (HTS) research explained issues that had vexed scientists for years. His contributions to the discipline had a defining effect on the application of HTS materials in extensive areas. This lecture is an invaluable opportunity for us to learn more from this distinguished scholar.
