Chung Chi Wind Orchestra
CUHK Chung Chi Wind Orchestra established in 2008. Its core of 70 members comprised of undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, conducted by Music Director Lo Hau-man and Fred Lau. CCWO presents a diverse repertoire of wind ensemble masterworks and more contemporary compositions. The Orchestra had the opportunity to premiere compositions for wind band by leading Hong Kong composers such as Wendy Lee, Lam Lan-chee and Chan Wing-wah.
Since 2009, CCWO has collaborated with wind ensembles including EdUHK Wind Ensemble, HKAPA Wind Band, Hong Kong Police Band, Hong Kong Saxophone Ensemble, National Tainan University Wind Band, National Chiayi University Wind Band and Baden-Württemberg Youth Wind Ensemble (Germany). With the support of Chung Chi College, the Wind Orchestra has embarked on tours to University of Macau (Macao), South China University of Technology (China), Guangxi Conservatory of Art/ASEAN contemporary music Festival (China), National Chiayi University (Taiwan) and National University (Taiwan).
Soloists with CCWO have included Cheung Ying-hung (tuba); Chan Kwok-chiu (Flute); Lam Wing-cheong (flute); Andes Tsang (Flute); Mary Wu (Piano); Heidi Law (Percussion); Martin Choy (clarinet); Richard Fond (clarinet); Darren Ho (clarinet); Chong Kai-hoi (clarinet); Leung Chi-shing (clarinet); Wong Chi-wing (harmonica); Adilia Yip (Percussion); Chu Siu-wai (Dizi/xiao); LooSze-wang (sheng); Chan Pik-sum (erhu); Henry Cheng (oboe); Poon Kiu-tung (piano); Kilby Li (harp); Joseph Lee (trombone); Terry Shiu (Trombone), Jennifer Ho (harp) and Judy Ho (harp). |
