The Centre for Chinese History and Culture and Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau jointly organize the “Forum on Chinese History and Culture and the Celebration of Confucius’ Birthday” to allow students and staff to learn about Confucianism in Chinese traditional culture and its development in contemporary society. This is to also enhance one’s self-confidence on national culture, and explore the path of Chinese culture’s revival and reconstruction.

Memorial Ceremony for Confucius
This year marks the 2570th birthday of Confucius, the great educator, and thinker. The “Cultural Ambassador” of the UM Confucius Institute will be delivering a traditional dance performance at the Opening Ceremony of the “Forum on Chinese History and Culture and the Celebration of Confucius’ Birthday”.

Receive a donation of large painting – Mount Tai of China from a Shandong artist
The painting is titled as Mount Tai of China, which shows the view of Mount Tai. It symbolizes the indomitable and dauntless spirit of China, and it also represents the prosperity and peace of the country and clan.
It was painted by Mr. Zhang Zhimin, who is director of the China Artists Association, and honorary chair of Shangdong Artists Association, together with his students Mr. Mao Hongwei, Mr. Zhang Qinzhi and Mr. Dong Gang.
 
Forum on Confucian Culture

The Centre for Chinese History and Culture will organize the Forum on Confucian Culture, aiming to study Confucianism in Chinese traditional culture and its new changes in the development of contemporary society, to enhance national cultural self-confidence, and to explore the road to the revival and reconstruction of Chinese culture.
 
Confucius Culture Exhibition

On the occasion of celebrating and paying tribute to Confucius at home and abroad, the Confucius Institute and Centre for Chinese History and Culture of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau will jointly organize the “Forum on Chinese History and Culture and the Celebration of Confucius’ Birthday – Confucius Culture Exhibition”, with the support from the Kongzi Academe. The “Confucius Culture Exhibition” consists of three different themes – “The Life of Confucius”, “Confucius and Overseas Dissemination” and “Confucianism and Macao – Macao Confucian Association”.
 
Exhibition of the Landscape Paintings of Zhang Zhimin and Exhibition of the Works of the Mao Hongwei, Zhang Qinzhi and Dong Gang

In this new and ever-changing era, Mr. Zhang Zhimin persists in the inheritance and development of Chinese brush paintings from the view of History, Humanities and Arts. About 80 works of Mr. Zhang Zhimin with his students will be exhibited in this exhibition.
 
Suzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition

Suzhou has a history of more than 2500 years. It is a famous and ancient city in China and a representative of Jiangnan culture. The ancient city of Suzhou is rich in cultural heritage resources. The Suzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition can enhance the exchange and comparison between the culture of Nanyue and Wu.
 
Changshu Guqin Art Exhibition

Guqin is the most representative instrument in Chinese ancient folk music. Changshu is an important producing area of Guqin, which embodies the profound accumulation of Chinese traditional culture and Jiangnan culture. Such exhibition can help teachers, students and citizens to enhance their understanding of Chinese history and culture, especially music culture.
 
Macao Young Bamboo Flute Performance Art Sharing

Brothers Lin Longbin and Lin Longping are young bamboo flute performers in Macao. They have held several bamboo flute concerts in Beijing, Taiwan, Fujian and Macao, which have won high praise from the music industry. The Centre for Chinese History and Culture will invite the brothers to hold the Bamboo Flute Art Sharing Session at UM, for sharing their understanding of Chinese music and the relationship between Chinese music and Chinese studies with UM teachers and students.
