Introduction of UMSO
    UM String Orchestra
The UM String Orchestra was established in the second semester of 2009. It consists of the current membership of 30. The Orchestra aims to provide more opportunities for the UMacau students to appreciate the diversity of music and to enrich the music culture in the campus. The Orchestra rehearses regularly for different kinds of performances and events. In November 2010, the first performance – "String @UM" brought a lot of joy and surprise to the campus. The Orchestra also received a lot of acclaim and praise for the inauguration concerts, "Heart String Concert", "Phantom of the Orchestra" and "Chamber Music Concert". In 2011, the Orchestra was invited to give a joint concert called "The Future of Classical Music" – a concert presented by Macao Orchestra with local musicians. The Orchestra also went for an exchange trip to Taiwan, held a joint performance with Shih Chien University in May, 2012. Besides, the Orchestra will be occasionally arranged as a small ensemble like the strings quartet. The UMacau String Orchestra quartet performed as a guest art group in the "12th Hong Kong (Asia Pacific) Piano Competition" and various University functions.
