Dear Colleagues and Students,
In the forthcoming University Lecture Series, we are honored to have Dr. Ya-Qin ZHANG to be our keynote speaker. Dr. Zhang served as the President of Baidu Inc. for 5 years (2014.09-2019.10), responsible for autonomous driving, cloud computing, AI, and international business. Prior to joining Baidu in 2014, Zhang was a senior Microsoft executive in Redmond and Beijing for 16 years, including the managing director of Microsoft Research Asia and many other senior positions.
Zhang was elected to be the member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences for his seminal contributions to and leadership in digital technology. He is also a Fellow of Australia National Academy of Engineering, and IEEE. He is an author of over 500 publications, 62 US patents, and 11 books. He served on the Board of Directors of five public companies, and holds guest professorship in a number of universities. He is a frequent feature speaker in global forums including APEC, Davos World Economic Forum, United Nations, and Bo’Ao Asia Forum.
In this seminar, Dr Zhang will share the historical opportunity and challenges from technological, industrial and policy perspectives and he will address some of the core controversial and critical issues in the advancement of autonomous driving.
