Choi Kai Yau College 5th Anniversary Fellow’s Talk Series:
“Acupressure” (29 January 2019)

On 22 January 2019, a talk titled “Acupressure” had been held at the Fellows’ Salon (G024) of Choi Kai Yau College (W12). The speaker is Professor Chen Xin, Director of the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, who is also our fellow at the College. As the second talk of the “CKYC 5th Anniversary Fellow’s Talk Series,” the room was filled with over 60 seated and standing participants.

Apart from exercises and good eating habits, acupuncture is an alternative way to release pressure, and to keep the body and mind healthy. In the talk, Professor Chen has introduced different acupuncture points, including the neiguan (PC6), zusanli (ST 36), taiyang (EX-HN-5), yingtang (EX-HN-3), yingxiang (LI20) and baihui (GV20). While practicing acupressure with the participants, Professor Chen explained the benefits of these acupuncture points to promote healthy living, one of the competency goals as proposed by the residential college system.

To celebrate its 5th anniversary, Choi Kai Yau College has organized a series of commemoratory activities, including the fellow’s talks, master lectures, Dunhuang artistic exchange, and evening parties. In the fellow’s talk series, the College is very thankful to have the support from our fellows, who shared/will share their professional knowledge with our students along the year, fostering the liberal arts education and enhancing students’ soft skills.
