City and Culture Development: Focus Shanghai and Macau

CKPC and Meng Xiancheng College of East China Normal University have been co-organizing summer exchange program for 4 years. In order to allow students of the two places to experience the unique characteristics of each college and the local customs, both colleges recruit a delegation of excellent students every year to visit Shanghai and Macau respectively. The topic of this 11-day summer exchange program is “City and Culture Development: Focus Shanghai and Macau”. The discussions mainly focus on the city development, the blend of East-West culture, and the historical background of Shanghai and Macau. It is also an opportunity for the delegation members to exchange their experience of college education and campus life. After 6 days in Shanghai, the students of CKPC and Meng Xiancheng College were getting closer to each other and built a solid basis for their journey in Macau. The delegation members got a tight schedule in Macau. They experienced UM campus life and visited popular tourist attractions such as A-Ma Temple, Maritime Museum, Mandarin’s House, Our Lady of Penha Chapel, and Ruins of St. Paul’s. With the guidance of Resident Fellow Dr. Hsu Heng Chia, all of them have obtained a thorough understanding about the past of Macau. Over the following days, with the warm hospitality of CKPC students, the Shanghai delegation visited many places in Macau. From the grand hotel resorts in Cotai to the food court in Iao Hon Market, they experienced the uniqueness of Macau. Through these consecutive days of getting along and travelling with each other, the students of both colleges have gained a lot of unforgettable memories. At sharing session, the students prepared presentations on the topic of “Macau in My Eyes”. After that, Resident Fellow Mr. Cheang Chi Meng also prepared a meaningful and impressive send-off session for the delegation members. Finally, the 11-day summer exchange program concluded in a joyful and emotional atmosphere.
