Dear students,

Recently a man tried to cash in his consumption card at a low price. He was arrested for fraud after investigation and has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office for further inquiry. In addition, we received report the sale of consumption cards on social media or chat group on the suspicions of the abuse of public funds.

According to Article 6/2020 oh the Administrative Regulation “Plano de subsídio de consumo”, anyone who tries to cash in or sell consumption cards will have to return the illegal gain to the government, and bear any criminal or civil responsibility incur. In addition, the subsidy scheme will be terminated for the offender. On the other hand, if someone deliberately, misrepresents facts for the purpose of depriving someone of her valuable possession could be charged for fraud and the offence carries the maximum penalty of 10 year’s imprisonment.
