Matriculation: Freshers’ Week

The first week of Michaelmas Term is also known as Freshers' Week. This rite of passage is both symbolic and yet thoroughly intense: the prospects of meeting so many new faces; being inundated with so many different choices at once; and the experience of calling a new place home. Leaving family and friends behind and starting a new academic challenge can be exciting but also overwhelming.

Following Oxbridge traditions, introductory events enable freshers to receive information from resident student leaders, across faculties, and from UM Student Union officers. The week culminates in Matriculation, when students formally become members of MCM College.

Freshers’ Week, as daunting as it may be, is a opportune moment to meet new friends and to familiarize oneself with college and university life. Everyone will be able to join a friendly, inclusive and progressive learning community where long-lasting friendships are built, and undergrads enjoy some of the best days of their academic and social lives. Our MC2 team has worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure that Freshers’ week is enjoyable, and will help everyone to quickly settle in and feel at home. When evening commences, freshers have their first experience of communal dining with their new peers and other members of College

There is a planned a schedule of events to introduce the MCM College and University of Macau.

Once again, a very warm welcome to Moon Chun Memorial College in what is likely to be an exciting first week.
