Dear Colleagues,

The Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement (CTLE) would like to cordially invite you to take part in the CTLE Professional Development Online Workshop: Facilitating Collaborative Learning with Dr. Robert Vanderlan and Ms. Rachel Gunderson from Cornell University, USA. Well-designed group work provides students a sense of shared purpose that can provide morale, increase motivation, and deepen learning. In this interactive workshop, participants will consider a range of strategies and support resources for forming effective groups, helping students to manage their own group processes, and avoiding common group work frustrations. >>REGISTER NOW

**Participation in this workshop will be documented as equivalent of one hour of Professional Development for Teaching and Learning (applicable to UM Academic Staff only).**

About the speaker:
Dr. Robert Vanderlan is a senior associate director in the Center for Teaching Innovation, leading a team that offers instructional design expertise and support to faculty using a range of learning technology tools. In addition to ten years supporting faculty teaching development, Dr. Vanderlan has been an instructional designer for a wide range of online and blended courses. He is also a historian and the author of “Intellectuals Incorporated: Politics, Art, and Ideas Inside Henry Luce’s Media Empire.” Dr. Vanderlan graduated from Cornell with a bachelor’s degree in government, holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in U.S. history from the University of Rochester.

Ms. Rachel Gunderson is an instructional designer at the Center for Teaching Innovation at Cornell University. She is devoted to supporting Instructors in building community and belonging in their courses and creating engaging experiences through collaboration and active learning. Her previous hybrid teaching experience as an instructor at Wells and Ithaca Colleges has led to her design position at eCornell where she created fully online courses for professional learners around the world. Ms. Gunderson holds master and bachelor of science degrees in health education from Ithaca College and a graduate certificate in instructional systems technology from Indiana University.

This is a RSVP-required event, registration is open until noon Next Tuesday October 19. Meeting link will be sent to registered participates prior to the workshop.
