Moon Chun Memorial College:
Commemoration of Día de Muertos: All Souls’ Day
This year, MCM College celebrated Día de Muertos as a cultural event. This is a Mexican festival that honors the life of loved ones who have passed away. Inspired by the film, “Coco”, the House Association and floor student leaders found creative ways to use this festival as an opportunity to incorporate cultural traditions into learning and experience how different cultures treat death differently. In the evening of 29th October, they held a lively celebration party of music, dance, fashion show, fluorescent painting, skull and marigold symbolic decorations to acknowledge the beautiful lives of the deceased. In addition, they incorporated death education into learning by creating a space for participants to experience virtual death and reflect on the meaning of life. For participants, this event was a valuable and memorable learning experience. |
