Moon Chun Memorial College: “Inner Chapters by Zhuangzi” Reading Sharing Activity

“Reading makes one wise.” There are many classic books with profound wisdom in ancient China, but due to the barriers of ancient Chinese, few students can really read them now. In order to stimulate students' interest in reading ancient Chinese classics in depth, the Reading Club of Moon Chun Memorial College held a reading sharing activity of "Inner Chapters by Zhuangzi" at Junior Common Room on the evening of 4th December. The leader, Lenny Zhang (Year 1 Student) designed an interactive reading experience activity in which he interpreted the wisdom of "Inner Chapters by Zhuangzi" from multiple perspectives with down-to-earth language. While sipping tea and enjoying refreshment, the participants felt the beauty of the text by reading aloud the selected paragraphs, and discussed how to apply the philosophical fables into specific life scenarios to solve problems, which was quite inspiring. Finally, the activity ended in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

Below is the sharing of the activity leader: “Although masks covered the participants' faces, I could still see their eyes focusing on me, enjoying my sharing. Today I dressed in western style, talked about ancient Chinese with down-to-earth words. On my left is the liquor chocolates; on my right is the English Earl Grey tea. Although I might unavoidably misrepresent the ancient author's meanings, I am motivated in spreading traditional culture. My passion for it earned respect from the participants. In my opinion, this kind of informal reading sharing activity is as meaningful as formal lecture.”
