MCM College European Union Lecture Series – Hungary: From Origins to Present Day

MCM College is honored to have invited Viktoria Lesquoy, UM alumni and Magyar, as the guest speaker of the European Union Lecture Series on Hungary, the Land of Magyars. With a cordial welcome from MCM College Master Professor Kevin Thompson, Mrs Lesquoy took the audience on a historic journey on Hungary.

In this workshop, Mrs Lesquoy showed how Hungary turned from tribal confederacy to a kingdom through a contextual excerpt of a Hungarian Rock Opera. The hundred years of history of how Árpád-ház passed down the throne to Géza, and how Istvan became the first King of Hungary after winning a war against Koppány, was revealed to the audience. Istvan I was blessed with the Holy Crown by the Pope, and the Holy Crown becomes one of the key symbols of Hungary, currently kept in the Hungarian Parliament.

In addition to learning about the origins of Hungary, Mrs Lesquoy also introduced to audience Lake Balaton, paprika, Gulyás and Tokaji Bor, which are all iconic existence of Hungary. Complimented with music videos and real site photos, the workshop displayed a diverse and condense summary of Hungary.
