Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) held its second high table dinner of the semester in the College’s dining hall on 27th November 2020. In her opening remarks via online conference call, Prof. Katrine Wong, Interim College Master of MLC, summarised and congratulated the students on their achievements in various areas this year. Prof. Wong then led the audience to recall their experience this year and asked whom they wish to thank and appreciate the most. Her speech brought a warm welcome to the dinner which carried the theme of gratitude.

At the end of the year, it is important to reflect back on the year’s achievements and remember the people who have helped us along our way, including teachers, families and friends. Thus, MLC set the theme of the high table dinner as “gratitude.” To thank students who have made outstanding contributions to the College over the past year and to recognise their achievements in areas such as academic and whole-person development, the College awarded scholarships to 33 outstanding students and teams.

The dinner keynote featured 6 award-winning student representatives. They talked about their award-winning experiences and learning experiences, and whom they felt grateful for their achievements. Through the sharing of students, the audience were most deeply touched by students’ heart of gratitude, their devotion to the community and their pursuit of excellence and dedication.

The inauguration ceremony for MLC’s House Association (HA) was also held at the dinner. Cheng Ke, the President of HA encouraged fellow students to remain true to their original aspirations, actively participate in MLC’s whole-person education activities, and constantly make improvements in preparation for serving the community in the future.

All the guests and students strictly adhered to the government’s and the University’s pandemic prevention measures. Participants wore masks at appropriate times, and the number of participants was limited to comply with social-distancing rule. Invited guests at the dinner included Prof. Wang Chuang, Dean of Faculty of Education; Prof. Tang Zikang, Director of Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering; Prof. Yip Ming-Chuen, Master of Lui Che Woo College; Mr. Paul Pang, Dean of Students; Prof. Xinshu Zhao, Chair Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Christine Lim, Associate Professor, Faculty of Business Administration; Dr. Larry Liang, Associate Master of MLC; Mr. Zhou Ming, Assistant Principal of Hou Kong Middle School; Ms. Fan Lam, Principal Secretary of YMCA of Macao.
