Dear Colleagues,

In order to strengthen the management of academic equipment of the University of Macau through facilitating appropriate allocation of resources and raising the usage efficiency of academic equipment, the University is introducing the “Rules of UM Academic Equipment Management” ("Rules") which will take effect from 28 October 2020.

The Rules are composed of three major parts namely procurement of academic equipment, management of academic equipment and sharing principles. It can be accessed via UM’s Governance Documentation Repository:

The Rules are applicable to all academic equipment registered in the UM Academic Equipment Information Management System [https://equipment.um.edu.mo/]. As introduced earlier, academic equipment used for teaching and scientific research purpose in the University, with an estimated cost over MOP250,000, can be found in the system. Based on the principle of making good use of public funds, the University is advocating sharing of academic equipment with the aim to maximize the efficiency of the use of academic equipment. In the system, UM users can search for the equipment they need by the name of the equipment, category, its affiliated unit or its location. For reservation of equipment, please contact the person(s) in-charge of the equipment directly.
