MCM College “Create my own signature jam”

Many fruit jams are made with the addition of pectin for thickening, but jams can actually be made with just fresh fruits, lemon juice and sugar. With a disinfected container, lemon juice and sugar as natural preservatives, the jam made can be kept for weeks before unsealing. It takes time to prepare the jam on your own, but when it is done with a group of friends, time passes by so quickly the flavor of the jam is enchanted with joyous sweetness.

The group first prepared the fruit ingredients by slicing and mashing them, add in lemon juice and sugar and then slow boiling them to drive out the moisture of the fruit, helping to preserve and thicken the mixture. While having the mixture to a boil over medium heat, some help to disinfect the containers by boiling them in hot water and completely dry them. The steps are not difficult in making one’s own jam, but the key ingredient is time. After the hour-long slow boiling and stirring process, the jam is transferred to the clean jars and sealed, while some are immediately served over a cup of yogurt.
