4. Zoom Guest Talk
Dear Students,

ELC is pleased to launch the 2020 English Festival – “Tending to Your Mind” with a series of activities. Mental problems can impact our everyday lives, moving people away from a healthy emotional well-being. To promote mental health awareness, we are glad to invite Dr. Castillo to host a guest talk about the importance of healthy boundaries for our mental health. In this guest talk, you will learn what personal boundaries are, how to identify signs of unhealthy boundaries and how we can set healthy boundaries with others to cultivate self-compassion. We look forward to your participation!

Speaker: Dr. Esther Hio-Tong Castillo

Dr. Esther Hio-Tong Castillo is a feminist, educator and sociologist. She received her PhD in Sociology from Temple University in Philadelphia. Her recent projects focus on cultivating mental wellness within Chinese immigrant community in the US.

Objectives - This workshop aims to


· raise awareness of protecting personal boundaries and maintaining emotional hygiene
· help students learn how we can set healthy boundaries with others in order to achieve better mental health
· involve students to practise oral English in a warm informal environment

Quota: Up to 50 Participants
Audience: All UM students are welcome.
*Participants will be awarded 1 Smart Point and 15 CS on “Interpersonal Relation and Teamwork”.
