Over 70 students complete UM’s first batch of SME training courses

In response to the epidemic, the University of Macau (UM) has launched a series of training courses for owners and employees of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Macao. A total of 72 students completed the first two courses, namely Marketing and Service Strategy, and Crisis Management and Leadership, on 14 May and 15 May, respectively. The students believe that the knowledge they have acquired is practical and they have benefited greatly from the courses.

A student surnamed Hoi says that she has learned a lot from her course, which allows students without a bachelor’s degree to deepen their knowledge through training. Another student surnamed Kam says that in addition to experienced professors from UM, the course also invited industry experts to share their experience and real-life examples to help students apply their knowledge in their workplace in order to minimise the impact of the epidemic.

So far, UM has launched three batches of SME training courses (six courses in total). The university received over 1,000 applications and 240 quotas were quickly filled. The courses aim to encourage Macao residents to continue to upgrade their professional knowledge and management skills. The third batch of training courses, namely Tourism Hospitality Management and Gaming Industry Development, and Food and Beverage Management in Tourism Industry, will begin on 19 May.
