UM Alumni donate anti-epidemic supplies to UM students

University of Macau Alumni Association, University of Macau (Shanghai) Alumni Association, University of Macau (Minnan) Alumni Association, University of Macau (Beijing) Alumni Association, University of Macau (Shenzhen) Alumni Association and Guangdong Charity Federation donated facial masks and alcoholic disinfectants to students that are resuming studies in University of Macau. UM has prepared a total of 1,000 sets to eligible students. These anti-epidemic supplies will be distributed for three consecutive days, from 11th– 13th May, so that students staying on campus can fully protect themselves and pass on the love received from their alumni.

During this three-day distribution activity, the students responded positively and received protective supplies. While queuing up, they consciously maintained social distance, and orderly received the supplies. The staff of the University of Macau even sent supplies to the students who were under quarantine as to let them feel safe during this period.

In order to complete his research, Zhang Chunhua, a PhD student in the Department of Mathematics, applied to return to campus and underwent isolation to return to the laboratory. As he was focused on research and had no time to purchase supplies, once he knew that the university was going to distribute supplies to students, he went to collect it on the first day. In hearing that the supplies were donated by UM alumni, he felt even happier and was touched by their spirit of mutual support. He also stated that he would strive to give back to his Alma mater after graduation.

Currently, University of Macau is opening up qualifications for prospective graduates, students who need to complete their oral defense and research in returning back to campus. UM is strictly implementing measures against COVID-19 in accordance with the relevant guidelines of Higher Education Bureau and the health department to protect the safety of on campus teachers, students and staff. UM once again sincerely thank the above groups for their generous donations to work together to fight against this pandemic.
