Dear colleagues and students,

According to the World Health Organization, physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle may increase the risk of many chronic diseases. Those who engaged in sedentary occupations (such as office workers) should pay attention to their health. Doing stretching exercise during work is effective in relieving fatigue, improving work efficiency and quality of life. The benefits include:
  • Allowing the brain to rest and the muscles to relax;
  • Improving cardiopulmonary function and promoting blood circulation;
  • Improving excretory function, reducing fatigue and the accumulation of lactic acid;
  • Maintaining correct posture;
  • Releasing tension from study, life and work which helps fall asleep at night;
  • Avoiding muscle strain when doing strenuous exercise afterwards;
  • Relieving temporary brain fatigue caused by stressful work;
  • Increasing physical fitness if it becomes a habit;
  • Enhancing coordination and sense of rhythm;
  • Keeping good mental status when doing the exercise with music.

Health Bureau of Government of Macao S.A.R. is now promoting the “Come and Move” Program, and encouraging all of you to do stretching exercise for 5 to 15 minutes during work. Let's scan the following QR codes for the videos and do them together!
