Dear Colleagues and Students,
The University of Macau aims to establish a high-quality, all-rounded learning environment for students and the local community. To this end, the University is organising a series of public lectures and speeches to be known as the University Lecture Series. World-renowned scholars, prominent leaders from different fields, as well as the University’s own Distinguished and Chair Professors will be invited to deliver lectures on topics within their specialty which have a broad appeal to the academic community and the lay public.
We are honored to have Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Ralph and Claire Landau Professor of Economics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, to deliver a lecture on the topic of "The China-U.S. Trade War: Challenges and Opportunities for China, the Greater Bay Area and Macao." Prof. Lau, a well-known economist, will analyse the causes and impact of the current China-U.S. trade war with his unique insights. He will share with the audience how China and the U.S., the two biggest economies in the world, can find a way out in their relation characterised by rivalry-partnership and competition-complementarity, and whether their new type of major-power relation may lead to a win-win situation. Challenges and opportunities for China, the Greater Bay Area and Macao will also be addressed.
All members of the UM community and the general public are cordially invited to this splendid event. Details of the event are as below:
